Are you aware that you have two minds? It’s true. You have a conscious mind (left brain) and a subconscious mind (right brain).
The Left Brain
Your conscious mind is the part of your mind that is logical. It reasons and analyzes. It also helps you to remember 5 to 7 bits of information at a time and make choices and decisions.
A good example is when you have a wound. You can clean the wound and put a dressing on it (conscious mind) and the cells begin healing and creating a scab as new skin forms (this happens in the background, on an invisible level using the subconscious mind.)
The Right Brain
The subconscious mind is located on the right side of your brain and is responsible for all the automatic functions of your body. It blinks your eyes, beats your heart, tells you when to breath and it stores every learned memory since our birth. Some argue it is part of the Akashic records and goes back to the collective consciousness of all minds since inception.
The subconscious also tells you when to eat and when to sleep and it tells us how to feel.
It makes protective emotional choices.
Take a smoker for example: “When I feel stress, I have a cigarette and I “feel” better!” (even if it is temporary.) The same goes for food or any other habit we develop to help us cope with all the feelings that come at us each day.
The workings of the subconscious mind are invisible.
The subconscious mind does not actually think. It is without logic and reason which is the opposite of your conscious mind. It is basically there for you to program with your wants, needs and desires. There is no gray area in the subconscious it is either black or white and it follows any suggestion you give it either positive or negative.
It cannot tell between positive or negative suggestions therefore, it is so important to be the steward of your own thoughts.
You must be protective over your subconscious mind as it wants to do whatever you are telling it through your thoughts.
The subconscious mind can only communicate to you through your feelings which control your reactions. If we try to overcome those feelings and reactions with conscious reasoning, then the subconscious redoubles its efforts! If you must give a speech and keep telling yourself via the conscious mind that you are not nervous or to calm down, you’re actually only going to become more nervous because you cannot consciously direct the subconscious.
How to Use Hypnosis to Make Changes in the Subconscious
It is useless to try and make changes through our conscious mind when the problem lies in the depths of the subconscious. Hypnosis will help you to make profound changes in the subconscious. When you enter hypnosis, you will be able to bypass the critical faculty of the mind and make changes directly within your subconscious mind.
Everyone can benefit from hypnosis to change thoughts feelings and behaviors that are no longer useful. Keep in mind, the changes must be beneficial and useful to you, otherwise the subconscious mind will negate the suggestion.
